The Sunday Express, 19 January, page 63, untitled, David Thomas, England.
For those wanting some seriously sexy television, the place to look was Channel 4.  On Tuesday its arts show Without Walls looked back at the Avengers, the Sixties detective show that brought girls in black leather to the nation's TV screens.  This stylistic detail was, apparently, suggested by Patrick "Steed" MacNee.  It meant that he came to work every day to be greeted by Honor Blackman dressed in something tight and kinky.  When she left, Diana Rigg continued the tradition.  The Without Walls researchers managed to dig up some footage of la Rigg dressed in nothing more than high heels, a black basque and a spiked necklace.  She was pouting wildly and cracking a whip.  I nearly passed out with excitement.  David Thomas is editor of Punch.
